Custom Software · Auckland

Custom software development for Auckland businesses.

Some requirements can't be met with software that already exists. When a business process, a customer service or an internal workflow doesn't fit an off-the-shelf product, a custom application can be the difference between working around a system and having one that fits.

We plan, design and build custom applications, internal tools, customer portals and platforms, along with the integrations that connect them to everything else.

You don't need a technical specification to start. Tell us what isn't working and we'll help work out what would.

The Starting Point

Where custom software earns its place.

Custom development is usually worth it when a business has a process that is genuinely its own: a quoting or job management workflow, a customer portal, a system that has to talk to several others, or a product that is itself software.

It's rarely worth it for something a standard product already does well. If a CRM, an accounting system or a booking platform will do the job, we'll say so. The sensible answer is sometimes to buy rather than build.

Where it does make sense, the value usually comes from removing work: re-entering the same information in three places, chasing paperwork, or making decisions without being able to see what's actually happening.

Businesses often arrive at this point because they've outgrown a tool that was fine two years ago. That's a good problem, and usually a manageable one.

If a standard product will do the job, we'll tell you. Building is the right answer when the process is genuinely yours.

Common Problems

What usually prompts a custom build.

The same information entered in three systems

Re-entering data wastes time and introduces errors that are hard to trace back to their source.

A workflow that lives in spreadsheets and email

It worked when the business was smaller. It stops working when the volume grows or more than one person is involved.

Tools that don't talk to each other

When systems can't exchange information, someone becomes the integration, and that person is usually busy.

A system that was fine until the business grew

Software that suited ten staff and one product line often doesn't suit thirty staff and four.

How a Project Runs

Start with the problem, not the technology.

Larger projects are delivered in stages, so something useful exists before the end.

01

Understand the problem

What isn't working, who it affects and what the business needs to be able to do that it can't do now.

02

Work out what it needs to do

Requirements, scope and technical approach, set out in plain English with the trade-offs explained.

03

Build it in stages

Development in reviewable stages, with testing and agreed points for your feedback along the way.

04

Launch, support and improve

Getting it into real use, then improving it as the business's needs change.
